HW #7 ''A Good Place to study''

     A great environment affects our studying experience. Some students feel

comfortable with a lot noise, but most students can't help it. Therefore, a good 

place for studying is very important. Some people like studying at home；

some at library. I am a PCC student, and D building is a good place to study.

     For one thing, I can always take advantage of its learning centers. Here, it

concludes three centers. They are ESL Center, LAC( Learning Assistant Center),

and Reading Center. I can see a tutor at the ESL Center to get a piece of advice

and assist with my essays, and I can enjoy many different kinds of materials, 

suck as books, movies, or games. I can also get much exercise at LAC. I borrow 

a computer or cassette device and practice my pronunciation and listening and 

spoken with Whaddaya Say and Communicator II. Every reading  ESL classes 

require a attendant sheet that I need to spend at least two hour per week at the 

Reading Center for reading materials. It is really assist me with my reading skills. 

For example, I learned a lot of new vocabularies when I looked up those difficult 

words after I finish reading. My comprehension skills were getting better, as 

well. In addition, it is a best location at campus. It is settle down at the center 

of the PCC. It is very convenience from any of my class room. It just takes 5

minutes to the library and gym , so I won't waste time on walking. Also, it is 

closed to the CC building where student having their lunch or dinner and 

relaxing spot, and some fast food restaurants. It is all about time( Time is 

Money). Finally, I can always find some of my friends at it. Finding a study 

buddy and assisting each other is a good way to improve myself. I like to ask 

some complex questions on my weak area, so I always try to meet some 

classmates. D building is not very big, I am able to easily find some of them.

      
    Every body has their own habits for choosing places to study. If you are 

trying to find a place for studying, saving time, and meeting study buddy, 

D building might be the best place.

I have seen a lot of movie without Chinese text since I come to the United States. Some movies I don’t understand, and some movies I can understand a little bit, but Freedom Writers  that I understand and I get totally absorbed in the story and feeling their lives. This movie is a real true story which has been happened at Long Beach in Los Angeles. It  was a good movie.

 First of all, I like Ms. G. She was an amazing teacher. She wasn’t just doing her job, and she really care about her students and raise themself confidence. When someone drew a picture about another student look like a jewish people who has a big lips to show everyone. Then while everyone was guffawing, Ms. G. stopped them and told them do not do that anymore by a true story. In addition, I got totally absorbed in the story. When the movie was shown they were taking about the colors. Different colors have different lives in the story. White people always right, and they hate white people, but Ms. G. didn’t agree that. She used many way to show them that they were wrong. When I saw here, my tears almost came out. I got a strong feeling. Last, I like the ending of this movie. As you know, Ms. G. did everything she can to help her students and change their lives. Ms. G. fought other teachers to get permission to teach her students until they finish school. After a few year, her all of students were good.

 In conclusion, the Freedom Writer was a wonderful movie that I have seen, and I got a strongly feeling. If I am a teacher, I will I can do the same things like Ms. G. did, and let my all students to think about their future are very significant.

  My friend invited me to her party today.When I received her call, I so excited.I decided to go to the Chinese super market buying some food and drinks.The party will held at 14:30, but some of my friends and me need to go early to prepare first.After we eat, we will play a game together.That will be a wonderful party.

  Today is a wonderful day.The weather is sunny with a few wind. I will go to Apple Store later and get a new iPhone 4s.I reserved a iPhone 4s white and 32GB yesterday,so I can pick up it within 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM toady.I am very excited because that new phone has a new software program that it is Siri. Siri can let people talk to her, and she will give you a smart answer.That is so cool.

 I went to the post office to send my package today. there were many people waiting in line.I brought many boxes of package into the office, and the others were very excited because I had over 700 packages in 6 boxes.

   I went to the Mt.san college yesterday.That college is very bigger than PCC.My friend and I went to there for a medical issue. we needed go from the building 27B to  the building 67B twince and back. it is a long distance for walk there.We had spend 2 hours since we began to walk.Finally, we had a good day because we finished all my things.

    I received an AT&T bill payment yesterday.There was a mistake about payment. It was $251 on the bill! I got surprise, and I decided go to AT&T to find out what happened on my bill. Today, I went to the AT&T and asked them to find out why. I used a lot of English to explain to them, and they helped me at all. Finally, I got my money back.

Improving English

            We have some plans about how to improve our English. Learning English is not easy for foreign people who do not have a clear mind to achieve their goals. First of all, we can start with listening skills. Listening to the radio and American songs are a good ways to increase listening skills. For example, you do not have to stay in one place. While you are driving or jogging, you can use the radio to listen to news, such as on 89.3 KPCC. After that, you can enjoy some American music and try to understand what they are singing. In addition, speaking is always a good way to communicate with people. While you are talking with native speakers, they will be correcting you grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary. Meanwhile, another way to improve communication is to remember a show or movie what you watched. After that, you can tell your friends the summary in English. Last of all, reading some great articles can really help, too. As soon as you find some interesting books, you will learn how to write correctly and fluently. Moreover, reading information from the Internet and newspaper are nice methods for you to get better. In conclusion, English is a popular and useful language to learn. If you want to improve your English, follow these steps you will be better in the future.

a) When I was young, I lived in China. I did not know why I need to learn this kind of useless then I started to study English at elementary school. Teachers told me to study English because English is  used in everywhere of the world. Now I am studying English because I live in America. In the United States, all of residents and citizens speaking English all the time.If you cannot understand them,you will get a lot of trouble in your live in America.

b)Yes, I use English very mush when I am not in the English classes. For example, I have been working as a Navy Reserve. While I am working, I need to use English all the time,such as listen to the instruction, answer some questions, and explain somethings about working.Also, when I go to some places, such as bank,post office,train station,and airport, I need to use English to talk to people.

c)When I use English,sometimes I feel nervous. For example, when I get some troubles in working, I need to report to my supervisor. I try to explain what the trouble I get , but my supervisor usually doesn't understand at first. I need to use some body language to explain clearly.Finally, he will get most of things about my trouble.In short, if I get another trouble, and I need to explain again. That I will get the same problem in my English language,but I will feel a little bit better.
